We took these photos earlier this season of sea lampreys spawning in the River Mulkear, Co Limerick. This is still the main site for sea lampreys spawning in the River Mulkear. It is a very accessible site if you want to see them spawning and every year sea lampreys can be seen spawning above the bridge in the town between May and July. Sea lampreys are currently at ‘unfavourable’ conservation status in Ireland and this site is one of the strongholds of this species in Ireland.
